Source: Globecotnews Date: 2007-08-03
The expansion of specialty textile groups in China's textile sector has slowed during the first half of 2007. In January through June, output of wool yarn reached 185,100 tons. This total reflected 6 percent growth from 2006; however, output still remains positioned to fall below the levels of 2004. Wool fabric output experienced faster growth, increasing 12 percent to 304 million meters, while production of ramie and linen fabric has been flat in the first half of 2007 at 106 million meters. Silk output has grown one percent to 77,814 tons, with silk fabric production only increasing 2 percent to 8.217 billion meters.
