The textile world is eagerly waiting for the opening in Munich, on September 13 next, of ITMA 2007, the international exhibition of textile machines. The presence of the Italian exhibitors will be remarkable, as it was also in previous editions of the show. The registered Italian exhibitors amounted in July to 368 companies, with an occupied exhibition area of over 25 thousand square meters (i.e. about 25% of the total exhibiting companies and of the total exhibition area).

“This result is considerably higher than on last edition of ITMA in Birmingham in 2003 – points out Paolo Banfi, President of ACIMIT (the Association of Italian textile machinery manufacturers) - at that time, the Italian manufacturers attending the exhibition were in fact 314. This confirms, that our companies are still flourishing and dynamic and that they believe in the validity of this event, which remains worldwide the major meeting place for this sector”.

The Italian companies which exhibit in Munich are distributed as follows among the different branches: 82 in the spinning section, 17 in nonwovens, 56 in weaving, 28 in knitting, 136 in finishing and 49 in the other business areas planned for the show.

“The Italian attendance – observes Banfi – is significant not only in terms of number of exhibitors, but also in terms of quality of the exhibits. The operating results in 2006 confirmed that the European textile industry is still highly competitive, thanks to the regained higher market levels. We manufacturers have the task of supporting this transformation of the market trends of our customers through a more and more advanced technological offer. I am sure – Paolo Banfi goes on – that our companies will surprise the visitors, particularly with the high innovation level which they are proposing in their offers”.

The Italian textile machinery sector is basically characterized, besides by the high technological level of its offer, also by its excellence in quality, creativity and reliability. These features are highlighted also by the slogan of the promotional campaign which ACIMIT, together with the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Commerce, launched for ITMA 2007.

The events scheduled during ITMA include also the Press Conference which ACIMIT organizes in co-operation with ICE and with the Ministry of Foreign Commerce. The conference, which will be held on September 14 at 6.30 p.m. in the Mandarin Hotel in Munich, will offer the occasion to present the Italian participation in the fair and to summarize the conjunctural situation of the Italian textile machinery industry.
