Official statistics made by China Customs showed that China's total imp. & exp. value of textile and apparel in the past months 2006 reached 121.234 billion dollars, increasing 21.85% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 9.53% of China gross imp.& exp. value of foreign trade.

Gross export value of textile and apparel in China was 107.775 billion dollars, increasing 24.15% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 15.59% of gross export value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile export was 38.455 billion dollars, increasing 18.32% compared with the same period of last year; and apparel export was 69.320 billion dollars, increasing 27.64% compared with the same period of last year.

Among the main export countries and areas of textile and apparel, USA was the top one, Japan and Hong Kong PR China became the top two and three. In Jan. to Sep, 2006, China's export to USA reached 15.990 billion dollars, increasing 9.31% year-on-year; export to Japan was 14.273 billion dollars, increasing 7.53% compared with the same period of last year; export to Hong Kong PR China was up to 13.393 billion dollars, up 23.35% compared with the same period of last year. Total value of export to the above three countries and area reached 43.656 billion dollars, taking up 40.51% of total export of textile and apparel. Export to EU reached 16.987 billion dollars, increasing 13.52% compared with the same period of last year. The statistical said that in Jan.- Sep. 2006 China's export of textile and apparel to EU and USA reached 32.977 billion dollars, increasing 11.44% compared with the same period of last year, taking up 30.60% of China's total export value of textile and apparel. Export to other non-restricted countries reached 74.797 billion dollars, increasing 30.73% compared with the same period of last year, taking up 69.40% of China's total export value of textile and apparel.
