US Cotton Council International celebrated the 50th anniversary in Washington, US recently. Its statistics showed that export volume of US raw cotton, cotton seed and cotton products was 8 times than 50 years ago. China maintained to be the largest export market of US cotton with nearly half of total US cotton export volume.
Mr. David Burns, Chairman of US Cotton Council International said, “Comparatively speaking, cotton demand of global textile mills increased 4 times than 1956. In 2005, US plans to export 17mln bundles of cotton (3.7mln tons) which is 8 times of 1956, constitutes 70% of US cotton output.” He said that although US cotton yarn and fabric export in 1956 constituted small part of the output, it amounted to 3.6mln bundles (0.78mln tons) currently and total export of cotton and cotton products amounted nearly 21mln bundles(4.57 tons)
