China Became Brazilian Largest Export Destination Country in 2009

Figures released by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade of Brazil on January 4 indicated that China purchased commodities of all sorts worth of USD19.9b from Brazil in 2009, USD15.7b more than the US to be Brazilian largest export destination country.

Director of the Ministry Welber Barral stated at the press conference held on that day that in 2008, the US were Brazilian largest export destination country with the procurement of USD27.6b while Chinese procurement was only USD16.4b. In the wake of the outbreak of the financial crisis, the US’s economy was severely impacted, and the export of Brazil to the US sharply shrank while that to China presented a trend of stable growth.
