The textile exports of the country exceeded to 9 billion dollars during 11 months of the current fiscal year. From July-May 2006-07, the textile export amounted to $ 9.088 billion against $ 8.267 billion in the same period of 2005-06, showing an increase of $ 819 million dollars.

Almost all the export of textile related goods showed improvement in the above mentioned period. Other manufacturing sectors during July-May 2006-07 showed a negative trend and their exports declined to the tune of 245 million dollars. Break-up shows that cotton cloth export during 11 months of on-going fiscal stood at 2.111 billion dollars compared 2.054 billion dollars in the corresponding period of preceding FY, depicting an increase of 564 million dollars.

The export of knitwear in July-May2006-7 registered at $ 1.910 billion against $ 1.731 billion, showing an increase amounting to $ 1.791 billion. Similarly, the export of bed wear was recorded at $ 1.257 billion in 11 months of current fiscal against $ 1.182 billion, showing an increase of 752.62 million dollars. Export of towels during July-May 2006-07 depicted negative trend as it registered amounting to $ 149.989 million compared to $ 109.248 million, showing a decrease of $ 40.741 million. The export of readymade garments during 11 months of on-going fiscal recorded amounting to $ 985.698 million against $ 867.585 million, depicting an increase of $ 118.113 million.

The export of art, silk and synthetic, textile during July-May 2006-07 showed declining trend as it stood at $ 340.954 million compared to $ 260.585 million during corresponding period of previous fiscal, thereby registering a decrease to the tune of 80.369 million dollars. Similarly, the export of made up articles (including textile) in the 11 months of current FY recorded at $ 316.60 million against $ 285.865 million, showing an increase of 30.735 million dollars.

The export of other textile materials in July-May2006-07 stood at $ 508.855 million compared to $ 457.759 million, depicting an increase of $ 51.096 million. The export of food group during July-May 2006-07 showed positive trend as it stood at $ 1.798 billion against $ 1.645 billion in the same period of lat fiscal, showing an increase of 1.524 billion dollars.

Rice export in the 11 months of current fiscal amounted to $ 1.039 billion against $ 931.893 million, depicting an increase of 107.275 million.

Export of vegetables/ leguminous showing at negative trend as in July-May 2006-07 it stood at $ 81.759 million against $ 120.229 million, showing decrease of 38.470 million dollars.

The export of chemical and pharmaceutical products showing a downward trend as in the above mentioned period at registered $ 423.995 million against $ 497.802 million in 11 months of last FY, showing a decline to the tune of $ 73.807 million.

Total export during July-May 2006-07 registered amounting to 15.387 against 14.854 billion dollars during the corresponding period of preceding fiscal.
